New Energy Efficiency Agreement: Kesko aims to improve energy efficiency by 16% by 2035

Kesko was one of the first companies to sign the new Energy Efficiency Agreement for the retail sector over the years 2026–2035. The cornerstones of Kesko’s energy efficiency improvement target of 16%, which is equivalent to 140 GWh, are the stores’ energy renovations and innovative energy solutions. Between 2021 and 2025, Kesko has achieved energy savings of around 89 GWh by upgrading the building services and refrigeration units of its stores across Finland. Consumption of district heating is also being reduced through new solutions. For example, waste heat from the atNorth data centre is now used to cover almost all the heating energy needed by the K-Supermarket Mankkaa in Espoo.
