Kesko Corporation: Kesko's sales in May 2012

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.06.2012 AT 09.00 1(2)

The Kesko Group's sales in May 2012, excluding VAT, totalled €861.6 million and were at the same level as the year before.

In Kesko's food trade, sales in May were €372.1 million, an increase of 5.2%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by 3.1%. The sales of Pirkka products to K-food stores increased by 17.2%. The sales of Kespro Ltd grew by 8.3%.

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in May were €123.5 million, an increase of 3.3%.K-citymarket's sales of home and speciality goods, and the sales of Asko, Sotka and Intersport grew compared to the previous year.

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in May were €284.1 million, which was the same level as the year before. Sales in Finland were down by 3.6%. Sales abroad increased by 2.9% in terms of euros. In Russia, sales increased by 19.2% in terms of euros.

In the car and machinery trade, sales in May were €96.5 million, a decrease of 18.4%. VV-Auto's sales in May were €58.8 million, down 28.1%, which was attributable to the car tax change effective from 1 April 2012. Konekesko's sales in May were €37.8 million, an increase of 3.4% compared to the previous year.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous year.

In May 2012, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 21, which was one less than in the previous year. The total number of selling days in January-May was the same as in the previous year. The number of retail selling days in May was 27, which was two less than in the previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-May was one less than in the previous year.
