KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.02.2011 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales in January 2011, excluding VAT, totalled 672.1 million, an increase of 8.9%.
In the food trade, sales in January were 292.2 million, an increase of 7.2%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by 7.1%.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in January were 124.1 million, an increase of 1.0%. Best sales performance was achieved by the Asko and Sotka chains.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in January were 166.7 million, an increase of 15.7%. Sales in Finland were up by 12.5%. Sales abroad increased by 18.6% in terms of euros and by 13.0% in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales were up by 11.4%. In Russia, sales increased by 26.9% in terms of euros and by 20.0% in terms of the local currency.*)
In the car and machinery trade, sales in January were 101.0 million, a comparable increase of 26.1%. VV-Auto's sales in January were 85.0 million, up 29.8%. In Finland, the number of new registrations of passenger cars was up by 11.3% in January. The market share of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto was 20.8% (19.0%). Konekesko's sales in January were 16.1 million, a decrease of 31.1%. Konekesko's comparable sales performance was 9.9%. In the car and machinery trade, the comparable sales performance was 9.9%. The discontinued Baltic grain and agricultural inputs trade has been eliminated from the comparable sales.
*) The reporting of the sales and sales adjustments of the foreign operations of the building and home improvement trade has been harmonised, and sales performance has been calculated based on comparable sales figures.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous year.
In January 2011, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was 20, which was one more than in January 2010. The number of retail selling days in January was 29, which was the same as in the previous year.
The sales from operations in Finland presented in this release include the export sales of the companies in Finland (previously exports were included in the sales of other countries). The comparative figures have been restated to reflect the change in presentation.
