ANTTILA TO CONCENTRATE ON SPECIALITY GOODS TRADE

Kesko has decided that Anttila shall concentrate on speciality goods trade. At the same time, the K-superstore chain and the K-supermarket chain shall be strengthened by incorporating most of the Ruoka-Anttila foodstuffs departments of the Anttila department stores into these chains. After this change, Anttila shall operate under four store concepts: Anttila department store, Anttila Kodin Ykkönen department store, mail order sales and electronic trade.

There are a total of 24 Ruoka-Anttila foodstuffs departments, 20 of which are owned by independent retailers. The annual sales of the Ruoka-Anttila departments total FIM 1.1 billion (EUR 185 million) and they account for a total of 2.5 percent of the Finnish foodstuffs trade.

The changes to be made in store concepts are scheduled for the beginning of next year. According to plan, the operations of the foodstuffs unit of the Anttila Chain Unit will be transferred to Kesko’s Foodstuffs Division at the end of this year.
