The decrease in the International Division’s sales resulted from the transfer of the Russian trade in Panasonic products from Kaukomarkkinat Group to Panasonic Group on 30 April 1997. During the period 1.1.-31.5.1998 the comparable change in the International Division’s sales was +1.8%, and in the whole Kesko Group’s sales +5.3%.

In May 1998, Kesko’s wholesale had 19 selling days, compared with 20 in May 1997. During the first five months, the total number of selling days was one smaller than in the previous year.
