Kesko Food today opened its third food store in the St. Petersburg area. In addition to the three existing stores, Kesko Food aims to open one more new large food store in the St. Petersburg area by the end of 2013 and then continue expansion in the St. Petersburg area and subsequently also in the Moscow area. The objective is to achieve net sales of 500 million and a positive result by 2017. Kesko has also 14 K-rauta stores and 20 Intersport stores in Russia.
According to Kari Heiskanen, Kesko Food's Country Director for Russia, both of the two already operating K-ruoka stores in St. Petersburg have received an excellent welcome.
- Customers have shown their appreciation for the concept which emphasizes freshness, good quality and Finnish products. The sales of both food stores have clearly exceeded their targets.
The third store now opened is located at Piskarevskiy Prospekt 59 A, at the crossing of the main roads in the St. Petersburg district of Krasnogvardeiskiy with a population of over 300,000. The store has a sales area of around 5,000 m2 and it operates on premises owned by Kesko. The site provides over 800 car parking spaces.
