K-food stores and Kesko Food employ more than 4,000 summer workers

Again this summer, more than 4,000 summer workers are busy in K-food stores and Kesko Food's premises around Finland taking care of various sales, customer service, office, and warehouse duties.

Most of the summer workers, about 3,800, are positioned in K-food stores. There are almost one thousand K-food stores in Finland.

"K-food stores and Kesko Food are significant employers in Finland, so we can offer many kinds of summer jobs in the trading sector. Most of the young people are employed in sales and customer service, and we also have summer workers in office and warehouse tasks in many parts of Finland. We want to be a responsible employer and do our share in giving young people a chance to get a foothold in work", says Ari Svensk, HR Director at Kesko Food.

Kesko Food and its subsidiaries hired altogether 400 summer workers, who are mainly employed in warehouse, office and customer service tasks. Aleksi Hiltunen, who is studying in Helsinki University to become Master of Food Sciences, got a summer job in the planning team of Kesko's own brand, Pirkka. This is already his second summer in a row in Ruokakesko. "I sent in an open application and got a summer job that includes project designer's tasks related to Pirkka product packaging, among other things. I had a part-time job related to Pirkka products also during the winter alongside my studies, so this summer I'm already familiar with the job. I think an advantage of a big employer is that there is a good chance of getting a job also after I graduate."

Kesko Food's subsidiaries Kespro Ltd and Keslog Ltd employ summer workers in wholesale and warehouse tasks. Kespro is the leading wholesaler in Finland and a partner to hotel, restaurant and catering (HoReCa) professionals. Keslog is one of the biggest providers of logistics services in the trading sector in Finland.
