Rautakesko to open new K-rauta stores in Russia and Sweden

Rautakesko opens new K-rauta stores in Halmstad, Sweden on 26 March, and in Jaroslavl, Russia on 28 March. The Halmstad K-rauta is the chain’s 21st store in Sweden. The Jaroslavl K-rauta is the 10th store in Russia and, at the same time, Rautakesko’s first K-rauta in Russia outside St. Petersburg.

Jaroslavl is a densely populated area undergoing rapid development. Over half of the town’s population, nearly 300,000 people, lives near the K-rauta store. The store has a total sales area of 16,500 m², of which 7,200 m² are heated and the rest is a partly covered outdoor sales area. The product range includes more than 30,000 products for building, renovation, interior decoration and the yard and garden. The store has showrooms displaying total interior decoration solutions to facilitate customers’ decision-making and to offer new ideas.

”The expansion of the K-rauta chain towards Central Russia is natural now that we have gained a strong foothold in the St. Petersburg DIY market. The new store is important for Jaroslavl too, because the K-rauta will be their first western DIY outlet,” says Mikko Pasanen, Rautakesko’s Country Director for Russia.

The K-rauta in Halmstad, Sweden, has an indoor sales area of about 5,200 m² and its total sales area, the outdoor store included, is about 11,000 m². The store carries a range of over 20,000 products.

“We have a good concept and we found an attractive site in Flygstaden, Halmstad. In addition to a large number of one-family houses, the area is a popular leisure destination with lots of summer cottages. I see the Halmstad store as an important step towards a nationwide store network in Sweden,” says Jani Jylhä, K-rauta AB’s Managing Director.
