K-rauta and Asko participate in the Vaasa Housing Fair

K-rauta and Asko are together responsible for the interior decoration of 'Talo Yari', house No. 21 at the Vaasa Housing Fair. The fair will take place in Suvilahti, Vaasa from 11 July to 10 August 2008.

The theme ('Homes for everyone') of the Vaasa Housing Fair is to build different dream homes. Talo Yari is a modern, efficient and presentable home for an adult couple. The floor plan is spacious: there are only a few, large rooms.

"The constructor wanted a house that has the style of a Finnish one-family house while resembling a typical Tuscany house. When the building had its final form on my drawing table, I had the village view of the Naples region on my mind," says Heikki Aitoaho, the main architect.

K-rauta and Asko are in charge of the highly personal interior decoration of the 180 square metre single-family house. Visitors' attention is caught by the Eco Velvet wallpaper with soft surface that rises high from the ground floor. It reflects a new kind of graphic forest atmosphere spiced with a hint of metallic shine. Talo Yari has a separate music room and a large sauna department and terrace upstairs.

"Talo Yari has been decorated in an individual style, using high-quality materials to match the spirit of the house. The area downstairs is designed for spending time with guests. The table seats even a large dinner party to enjoy a pleasant evening. In the living area there is the Mod couch designed by Riitta-Maija Oksanen in 2008 and produced by Asko's own sofa factory. The couch combines a new kind of curved shape, luxurious upholstery and sitting comfort. The music room is furnished with the Rehtori easy chair, a classic from the 1940s, also manufactured by Asko's sofa factory. Its white leather upholstery and dark wood highlight the timeless shape of the chair," says Piia Haipus, visual designer of Asko.

The Vaasa Housing Fair 2008 area acts as a display window for world-class energy production innovations. Electricity and heat are produced and consumed in the same area. Energy self-sufficiency is achieved with the help of the new energy collection and distribution systems and the new way of using gas collected from the rubbish damp.
