Anttila, Intersport megastore, Musta Pörssi, K-kenkä and Tähti Optikko to open in Sello

The K-Alliance will open an Anttila department store, an Intersport megastore, a Musta Pörssi store, a K-kenkä store and a Tähti Optikko outlet in the Sello shopping centre in Espoo, Finland on Wednesday, 14 September. A K-citymarket has been operating there since spring 2003. The opening of the new part will add to the attraction of the whole facility, which will now become a diversified shopping and cultural centre accommodating 160 retail stores and other service providers in Espoo.

The new Anttila department store is arranged on two floors, close to the clothes stores and restaurants. It has a total area of 4,600 m2 and a staff of 70. The Department Store Director is Ossi Ahonen. Cosmetics, men's, women's and children's clothes are sold on the first floor, while the home furnishing and Top Ten departments are located on the second floor. There are 27 Anttila and 7 Kodin Ykkönen department stores in Finland. In 2004, the sales of the Anttila department stores totalled 368 million euros.

The Intersport megastore is located on the second and third floors and has a total area of 1,800 m2. The K-retailer is Riku Pakarinen and he has a staff of 35. According to Pakarinen, the Intersport megastore focuses on expert service and offers wide selections of sports and exercise equipment. There are 11 Intersport megastores and 59 Intersport stores in Finland. In 2004, the sales of the Intersport chain totalled 220 million euros. Intersport is part of the international Intersport chain, which includes 4,800 outlets in 29 countries. In Finland, Intersport is the leader of the sports goods market.

The Musta Pörssi home technology store is located on the street level and its total area is 480 m2. The K-retailer is Erno Siltaniemi and the store employs 7 persons. The new store emphasizes product displays, featuring home entertainment centres and large flat-screen televisions among other things. The Musta Pörssi chain operates 59 stores in Finland and its total sales were 177 million euros in 2004.

The new K-kenkä shoe store (360 m2) located on the second floor is the 32nd in the chain. Maarit Lindroth is the entrepreneur running the store in Sello, but she also continues as the K-retailer of the K-kenkä Munkkivuori. The new K-kenkä is a pilot store introducing the new interior design of the new concept, with brand supplier shops as separate units. In 2004, the sales of the K-kenkä chain totalled 24 million euros.

Keswell Ltd will open several new stores in the Greater Helsinki area in the near future. An Asko and a Sotka furniture store will open in the Lanterna shopping centre in Helsinki during the autumn. The part of the Kamppi complex to be opened next spring will accommodate a new K-kenkä store. Likewise in spring 2006, a new Kodin Ykkönen department store for interior decoration, a Musta Pörssi, an Asko and a Sotka store will open in the Porttipuisto shopping centre in Vantaa. Last week the Lommila shopping centre including Asko, Sotka and Musta Pörssi stores was opened in Espoo. The Anttila department store of the Kamppi complex in Helsinki was refurbished and expanded this spring.

Kaukomarkkinat opens a 70 m2 Tähti Optikko optical outlet on the street level of Sello. The store adds to the network of eight outlets operating in Espoo. In the whole of Finland, there are 126 Tähti Optikko outlets whose sales totalled 44 million euros in 2004.
