The co-operation procedure initiated in January at Kesko Food’s Accounting Service Centre Lahti and Turku units has ended. The procedure related to the reorganisation of Citymarket Oy’s bookkeeping.
Citymarket Oy’s bookkeeping will be centralised in Kesko Food’s Accounting Service Centre in Tampere and in its Lahti unit. The reorganisation will improve the efficiency of Citymarket Oy’s bookkeeping and generate cost savings.
As a result of the co-operation procedure, 11 persons from the Lahti unit and 9 from the Turku unit will have to be given notice. The Turku unit will be discontinued altogether, while 18 employees will remain in the Lahti unit to take care of the bookkeeping of the Citymarket hypermarkets.
During the procedure, Kesko Food was able to arrange new jobs for three persons through internal job rotation. Another three have found jobs outside the company. The Accounting Service Centre Lahti and Turku units employed a total of about 50 persons.
As a whole, the number of Kesko Food personnel has been on the increase. In 2003, the company employed 7,042 persons on average, compared with 6,264 in the previous year. The biggest growth figures were registered by Kesko Food’s Baltic subsidiaries, but also the number of employees in Finland increased by over 70 persons.
