KESPRO WAS THE FIRST FINNISH COMPANY IN THE GROCERY WHOLESALE TRADE TO RECEIVE THE ISO 9002 QUALITY CERTIFICATE

Kespro has been granted the ISO 9002 certificate, which assures the quality of the company’ s production, installation and service. Kespro was certified by Det Norske Veritas Oy/Ab. The certificate first covers Kespro’s HoReCa Wholesale operations in Tampere and Lahti, and those of the national restaurant chain unit and central unit.

Kespro is part of Kesko’s Foodstuffs Division. Kespro is formed of nine wholesale delivery units and 25 cash & carry outlets in Finland (Kespro Ltd). In Estonia, Kespro operates two cash & carry outlets. Kespro is responsible for the sale of food and non-food products to HoReCa customers, service stations, kiosks, bakeries and industry. In 1999, its net sales amounted to about FIM 4.6 billion. Over 600 persons are employed by Kespro Ltd. The number of Kespro’s stock items is over 20,000 and that of customers over 20,000 as well.

The purpose is to certify all of Kespro’s HoReCa Wholesale units by the end of 2000. The certification of the wholesale delivery operations is part of the process of change and development that was started in the spring of 1999 when this unit was established. The purpose is to also certificate the cash & carry operations in the future.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide association of national standardization organizations. The ISO 9000 quality certification gives a company and its customers assurance about that the management system meets the requirements of a certain internationally known system. The most important principles in this quality system are customer orientation and the assurance of continuous improvement. The compliance of a company’s operations with the standard is controlled regularly at intervals of 6 to 9 months.
