Kesko and five other Finnish companies have been included on the Global 100 list of the most sustainable companies in the world, announced today at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“Reported sales grew in all divisions in July. Sales performance in the grocery trade and building and technical trade was impacted by the fact that the month had one more wholesale selling day than the year before. In the car trade, the implementation of the WLTP emissions testing, uncertainties regarding car taxation and debate over the choice of motive power continued to decelerate the sales of new cars,” says Mikko Helander, Kesko’s President and CEO.
Sales in the grocery trade totalled €467.5 million in July, an increase of 4.5%. Sales development was particularly good in the K-Citymarket chain.
Sales in the building and technical trade totalled €405.1 million in July, an increase of 5.9% in comparable terms in local currencies. Comparable sales in the building and technical trade excluding the speciality goods trade grew by 8.3%. Sales in Finland grew by 4.2% and sales elsewhere by 12.3%. Sales in the speciality goods' leisure trade increased by 7.8%, while sales in the machinery trade decreased by 16.6%. Reported sales in the building and technical trade increased by 11.8%.
Sales in the car trade totalled €75.2 million in July, representing a decrease of 12.0% in comparable terms. Reported sales increased by 0.6%.
