Climate and nature

Kesko is committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its operations. We have identified the SDGs that are most material for us in accordance with our sustainability strategy. In our climate and nature work, the key goals for Kesko and its stakeholders include Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Clean Water and Life on Land.

Our key goals:

• We commit to reduce our absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in accordance with our near-term and long-term targets, extending to 2034 and 2050.
• We encourage our suppliers and service providers to set science-based emissions reductions targets by the end of 2026.
• We identify our impacts on nature and prevent the loss of biodiversity in our operations and value chain.
• Kesko’s own brand packaging, as well as the packaging used in its own production and warehouses, will be recyclable or reusable by the end of 2029.
• We will halve our food waste percentage by 2030 from the 2019 baseline.
