Sami Kiiski appointed President of Kesko’s car trade division and member of Group Management Board

Sami Kiiski, M. Sc. (Economics and Business), 47, has been appointed as the new President of Kesko’s car trade division and member of Group Management Board, as the current division President Matti Virtanen retires. Sami Kiiski has acted as Senior Vice President in charge of Kesko’s leisure trade since 2020. He is also a member of the Board of Management of Intersport International Corporation. Before joining Kesko, Kiiski acted, among other things, as CEO of Halti Oy. Kesko is also changing its Group structure, as sports trade will become part of the car trade division. Prior to this, sports trade has been part of Kesko’s building and technical trade division. The changes will become effective on 1 June 2023.

”Sami Kiiski has extensive expertise in the trading sector, versatile experience in international business, and a strong track record in leadership that generates results. I am convinced that Sami Kiiski is the right person to lead this combination of Kesko’s car and sports trade, and to continue the transformation of our car trade in line with the chosen growth strategy”, says Kesko’s President and CEO Mikko Helander.

”I want to express my warmest thanks to Matti Virtanen for his strong contribution to Kesko. He has overseen the successful transformation of Kesko’s car trade, taking the division’s profitability to a substantially higher level,” says Helander.

The segment structure in Kesko’s financial reporting will depict the changes in Group structure as of 1 April 2023. Currently, sports trade is part of the building and technical trade segment. Kesko will be publishing comparison figures for the new segment structure for 2022 and for the first quarter of 2023 in May 2023.
