Sneha Iyer Gundarathi, 34, is a prime example of a technology expert who transitioned from the consulting world to Kesko. Although she has been a full-time employee at Kesko for only about a year, she has worked on Kesko’s projects as a consultant for seven years.
“I started my career in India and then moved to Poland. As a consultant, I worked on many projects with Kesko, so when I got a call from my former manager asking if I would like to join Kesko, it was an easy yes. I already knew a lot about how things work here, and I was able to jump into interesting projects right away,” Sneha recalls about her career journey.
Sneha describes the work of a consultant as quite hierarchical: before the actual work begins, various processes are reviewed, and tight deadlines along with overlapping projects could lead to delays and required a lot of organization. At Kesko, tasks are handled faster, and in-person meetings help things progress more smoothly.
“Kesko has increasingly invested in its own in-house technology expertise, and we already have a wide range of skills within the company. I would recommend Kesko as a workplace for IT professionals who can adapt to a dynamic work environment and manage themselves,” Sneha reflects.
Sneha describes herself as a good problem solver. “Most people focus on the general overview when discussing a project, but I focus on the details because it’s the details that make things work. If you overlook small things, they can cause big problems later in the integration or development process. So I believe I have a technical mindset that is detail-oriented,” Sneha summarizes her strengths.
Extensive opportunities to shape her work
Currently, Sneha works as a Senior Cloud Specialist in the infrastructure team. The transition from consultant to full-time employee at Kesko has been smooth because she encountered many familiar faces and was able to continue working on almost the same projects she had been involved in as a consultant. Sneha describes her work as flexible, and she has the freedom to take on various tasks related to her core expertise.
“I’ve been involved in service architecture, design planning, code review, and planning various operating principles. My role is quite broad, but that’s exactly what I like about my job,” Sneha says.
Sneha mainly works on integrations, developing API interfaces and cloud service integrations. For example, she has been involved in the development of EAI integration, which ensures that integrations function even during maintenance breaks or server crashes. In her work, she extensively uses DevOps, Azure, and Data Power SAP technologies. Various IT professionals are involved in the projects because security protocols and high-quality management standards require diverse expertise.
IT work doesn’t have to be done alone
According to Sneha, challenges and meaningful tasks combined with a pleasant team are the best aspects of her job. She also praises her colleagues and Kesko – employees are genuinely cared for, and she can spend time with colleagues outside of work as well.
“Sometimes we have very demanding projects, but we still manage to joke around, and the work doesn’t feel too stressful because of the good work community. We have good cooperation within our team, and we know that success doesn’t come alone,” Sneha praises her coworkers.
