Kesko introduces Pirkka milk, cream and butter

The Pirkka product range is complemented by light and skimmed milk, low-lactose cream and dairy butter. A completely new product in the Finnish market is the 0.5 litre skimmed milk, which has been long demanded by small households. The products are manufactured in Finland and available in stores during the last week of January.

"Pirkka products are used regularly in our daily lives. The absence of ordinary milk from the range has been a clear deficiency, says Ari Akseli, Kesko Food Vice President for Commerce.

The products are supplied by Osuuskunta Maitokolmio. Maitokolmio was established in 1905 and it has operations in Toholampi and Sievi. Maitokolmio manufactures milk and other milk products.

"It took us long to find a suitable supplier. We're pleased to begin cooperation with a smaller domestic operator and offer them an opportunity to cooperate with such a large volume product. This is also in line with our corporate responsibility principles," says Akseli.

"Kesko Food has been very positive and open-minded about the development and introduction of the product family. Such an attitude encourages small and medium enterprises to show their competencies and develop their operations," says Juha Murto-Koivisto, Managing Director of Osuuskunta Maitokolmio.

The products will be available in all K-food stores. The variety on offer will vary from store to store.
