Rautakesko opens a new Byggmakker store in Haugesund, Norway
Byggmakker, Norway's biggest retailer of building materials, opens a new outlet in Haugesund, northern Rogaland, close to the city of Stavanger today. The store employs 40 people. In line with Byggmakker's new store concept, priority areas include providing a wide product range and total solutions to customers. Besides attracting increasing numbers of women customers, the objective is to provide a comprehensive product range and services to professional customers.
"Byggmakker has had a relatively weak position in northern Norway in spite of being the biggest player in Norway's building materials sector. We are delighted to open this Haugesund store that represents a new standard when it comes to total shopping experience, inspiration and services," says Morten Engebretsen, Chain Director of Byggmakker Norge AS.
"The store has a prime location in Haugesund. We offer a wide range of products and services both to consumers and professional customers. The Norwegian building and home improvement market totals approximately €5 billion. In 2006 the market increased by 11% (TBL, BNL and own estimate) and the same growth is expected in 2007. Rautakesko owns Byggmakker Norge AS, which manages the Byggmakker building supplies chain of 119 stores. 21 of the stores are owned by Byggmakker, while other stores are owned by retailers.
