Byggmakker, Norway’s biggest seller of building materials, opens a new outlet at Økern, Oslo today. The store is built in line with Byggmakker’s new concept, which focuses on providing total solutions and stocking a wide product range. The new concept is designed to appeal for women customers in particular. Byggmakker Økern employs 50 people.
“Byggmakker is the biggest player in Norway’s building materials sector and it is very important for us to secure this position, particularly in the Oslo area. The Økern store is Byggmakker’s new flagship and pilot project that will focus on highlighting total solutions, functionality of products, and inspiration,” says Morten Engebretsen, Chain Director of Byggmakker Norge.
Major advantages of the new store to customers include the services provided by the attached builders’ yard: customers can load timber and heavy building materials straight into their cars or trailers under cover.
“We are very proud to offer our customers such a large selection of kitchen, bathroom and storage solutions. We hope our total range will encourage Oslo citizens to refurbish their homes,” says Morten Engebretsen.
The total area of 8,368 square metres of the store includes a 920 square metre garden store and a 3,669 square metre builders’ yard. The store is located at Haraldrudveien 5. More information about the Byggmakker stores is available at www.byggmakker.no.
The Norwegian hardware and builders’ supplies market is approximagtely €5.0 billion, and the total market increased by 11% (TBL, BNL, and own estimate) in 2006. In Norway, Rautakesko owns Byggmakker Norge AS, which manages the Byggmakker hardware and builders' supplies chain of 119 stores. 21 of the stores are owned by Byggmakker, while the other stores are owned by retailer entrepreneurs.
