K-citymarket donates over 30,000 euros to the Patron's Fund of the Children's Day Foundation

The K-citymarket chain today donated over 30,000 euros to the Patron's Fund of the Children’s Day Foundation supporting schoolchildren. The amount consisted of the chain's proceeds from the Linnanmäki amusement park ticket products it sold last summer.

The K-citymarkets sold a total of 30,414 Linnanmäki ticket products last summer. The stores donated one euro of each product sold to the Patron’s Fund of the Children’s Day Foundation. The foundation operates the Linnanmäki amusement park.

The Patron’s Fund grants scholarships to comprehensive school pupils with good school performance who by their conduct create a positive study atmosphere and team spirit, while also being socially active during leisure time. Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland, is the present patron of the fund.

”Supporting the activities of children and young people is socially responsible work and in conformity with the principles of the K-Alliance. Kesko and the K-food stores also actively participate in other projects promoting the activities of children and young people," said Sampo Päällysaho, Marketing and Sales Director of the K-citymarket chain at the donation event held at Linnanmäki.

"This donation is a significant contribution to the foundation, which annually grants scholarships to comprehensive school pupils. At least half of the funds available annually are granted to schoolchildren in the Greater Helsinki area, and the rest is allocated to recipients decided by the patron of the fund. We also intend to give funds to some child welfare targets to be specified later. This means that the whole donation we now received will be used for child welfare work," said Risto Räikkönen, Managing Director of the Children's Day Foundation.

The K-citymarket chain has supported the Children’s Day Foundation's operations for several years, and the parties have agreed to continue cooperation next summer. The K-Alliance also supports the activities of the foundation through K-Plussa.
