Need for reorganisation launches change negotiations in Kesko’s finance unit, grocery trade marketing, and logistics development – reductions estimated to impact 45 jobs at the most

The operating environment for the trading sector is currently subject to notable uncertainties, which have also had a strong impact on customer behaviour.

“Under these changed circumstances, we must focus increasingly on ensuring the basics of our business operations and on supporting critical functions. The number of development and other projects will also be reduced in 2023 compared to 2022,” says Matti Mettälä, Kesko’s Executive Vice President, HR.

Due to the changes in its operating environment, Kesko is initiating change negotiations in the K Finance unit of its Common Operations and in the finance units of the Business Services Center. Change negotiations will also begin in the Marketing function of the grocery trade division, and in parts of the Supply chain management, logistics and store services unit.

The change negotiations initiated now will concern 391 people, and the estimated need for workforce reductions is 45 people at the most.

In total, Kesko employs 12,500 people in Finland. The workforce reductions will not concern those working in the customer interface or operational positions in logistics.
