In the eyes of customers, our commitment to responsibility is most visible in our product assortments. We want to offer our customers reliable, sustainable products and services which help promote their wellbeing.
Our K-food stores have Finland’s most comprehensive selection of FairTrade products.
As alternatives to regular plastic bags, we offer our customers bags made from recycled plastic, biodegradable Pirkka bags, and reusable Pirkka bags. Pirkka recycled plastic bag is made of 90% recycled plastic. It was granted the 2010 Recovery Award.
We do not use and purchase endangered fish species. When making decisions on the selection, certified (such as MSC) suppliers and products are preferred. Read more: Kesko's fish and shellfish statement.
We encourage our customers to adopt healthy lifestyles, eat healthily and to maintain good health and fitness through physical activity.
In developing our own Pirkka brand products, our aim is to promote healthy living. All edible Pirkka products have a Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) label indicating what proportion of the recommended daily intake of energy and nutrients is contained in the product.
We have trained over 400 K-Food specialists in healthy nutrition and special diets in K-food stores.
Intersport's Sport to the People concept means that sport has something for everyone regardless of age and level of interest. Intersport stores throughout Finland provide different physical activity services and events for the customers. All Intersport stores provide Footbalance analyses to help correct foot position.
