The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and the Finnish Red Cross are once again organising the Hyvä Joulumieli (Christmas Spirit) Christmas fundraising campaign for children and families in need. Donations will be used to provide gift vouchers to families to buy food for Christmas. K Group will take part in the fundraising, and the vouchers can be redeemed at K-food stores.
Poverty affects one in ten children in Finland. The children have less opportunities to participate and may experience social exclusion and emotional distress.
The Hyvä Joulumieli campaign will bring some Christmas cheer to underprivileged families in Finland by giving them gift vouchers for food. The campaign is now organised for the 21st time. This year’s campaign began on 23 November and will continue until Christmas Eve.
The target is to raise 2.1 million euros. This would give 30,000 families a gift voucher of 70 euros, which they can use to buy Christmas food from K-food stores or Lidl and S Group food stores.
