K Charge fast charging subject to a fee from May onwards – new K Charge app for electric car drivers

The charging of electric cars at K Group’s fast charging points will become subject to a fee from 2 May onwards, with the customers also accumulating K-Plussa loyalty points in the process. K Group has also introduced a new K Charge mobile app to make the electric car charging process go smoother. Drivers of electric cars have welcomed K Group’s own network of charging stations: more than one million kilometres have already been driven on Finnish roads this year powered by renewable electricity from the K Charge network.

Cheering, music and friends by the basketball court − Finnish Basketball Association and K Group continue their close cooperation

The cooperation, which focuses on encouraging children to exercise, organises a tour of street basketball events around Finland for primary school children. The tour, which is called Pirkka Street Basket, started again on Friday 3 May in Helsinki and this year will travel as far as Kemijärvi, which is further north than ever before. The cooperation has already helped to encourage 66,000 children to exercise.

Joint project to solve the plastic problem: Everyday household goods delivered to your door monthly in exchange for household plastic waste for recycling

K Group, Unilever Finland, Metsä Tissue, Encore Ympäristöpalvelut and Orthex are launching an experiment with LOOP Ventures, a circular economy accelerator, to test an entirely new recycling model for household plastic packaging. The purpose of this pilot project, entitled Arkipakkaus (‘Everyday Packaging’), is to create a complete circular economy model for everyday plastic household packaging.

K Group responds to growing demand for organic foods – number of organic Pirkka products rises to almost 200 items

The popularity of organic food is growing in Finland and the rest of Europe. K Group will make organic food available to more consumers this year by adding dozens of new organic products to the Pirkka range. The new products also include organic taco and salsa dips.

K Group brings K-food store customers a new service that shows how Finnish the contents of their shopping baskets are

The new K-Ostokset service shows K Group customers what they are buying from K-food stores and helps them understand the impacts of their purchase decisions. During the first stage, the service gives customers an overview of how much Finnish products they are buying, and offers recommendations on Finnish products to buy. The service will later expand to give customers data on the sustainability of their purchases and on how their purchases contribute to personal wellbeing.

K Group to remove plastic from Pirkka cotton buds – 30 tonnes less plastic per year

The plastic stems of Pirkka cotton buds will be replaced with paper ones and the plastic packaging with paperboard. Removing plastic from Pirkka cotton buds is one of the measures listed in K Group’s plastics policy, which aims to reduce single-use plastics and promote a circular economy.
