K Trainee Program

The K Trainee Program is intended for the top trading professionals of the future – people with a strong desire to demonstrate their competence as part of a modernising K-Group. We want to provide opportunities to people with new insights and bold competences.

The paid K Trainee Program is intended for young people approaching the end of their studies or recent graduates with an academic or vocational higher education. The trainee program allows young people to participate in a diverse operating environment in K-Group's divisions – the grocery trade, the building and technical trade, and the car trade.

The participants in the K Trainee Program are supported by a large number of trading sector experts. By actively sharing their own competences and giving their best, trainees have an excellent opportunity to learn about the trading sector and network within K-Group and with our stakeholders. Practical trading-sector training in our retail shops with case study tasks related to the sector ensures that trainees have the capacity to understand the entire retail value chain. The program provides participants with a strong foundation for progress in trading sector jobs towards management or expert positions and an international career.

K-Group is an entity where stores are taken care of by K-retailers, who are independent entrepreneurs, and Kesko. We join forces for the benefit of our customers in nine countries in the Nordic region, the Baltic region, Russia, Belarus and Poland. For shopping to be fun.

Do you have the enthusiasm, hunger for success, and desire to join forces to build the K-Group of the future? We are looking for talented and motivated experts to become trainees in various parts of our organisation. The final selection will depend on the applicants' capabilities and suitability rather than a strictly pre-defined job description. Every K is different. That is why every K Trainee is different. The 2017 K Trainee Program in a nutshell

  • The paid K Trainee Program is intended for young people approaching the end of their studies, recent graduates and people with work experience and an academic or vocational higher education
  • 15 trainees will be selected for the programme and they will be placed in different roles in Kesko's three divisions or into the common functions unit depending on their suitability and interests.
  • The program will last 10 months and will begin on 2 May 2017. The K Trainees will be recruited on permanent employment contracts right from the start of the programme. The salary will be EUR 2,500 per month.
  • The trainees' work and competence development will be supervised by an instructor working in the same unit. A mentor will be nominated to support personal development.
  • Applications are open from 6 February to 5 March 2017.
