Most of K Group's summer jobs for young people and students are available at K-food stores. Summer is also the high season for building and home improvement stores, which hire seasonal workers to their yard and garden departments. In addition, we also employ students from various disciplines for summer jobs within our background operations.
In stores, summer employees may work as checkout operators and sales assistants, among other things; in Kesko Group, they may do office work such as financial management or communications, or be employed for warehouse jobs in our logistics centres.
A summer job at K Group is a good springboard to working life. You can gather experience that any employer will appreciate!

Get started early
It is worth starting a summer job hunt at the beginning of the year. Most of our summer jobs are published in February.
Do not have mum or dad ask for a job for you. Be bold and walk up to the retailer – a genuine interest always creates good vibes.
Invest in your job application. Let it show your personality and tell the reader why you want just the job in question. A good job application is personal and to-the-point and it shows that you know the facts about the job you are applying for. Make a brisk impression and deliver the application in person. Remember a firm handshake, a positive attitude and eye contact. Give the contact person a call later and ask when decisions will be made. If you just rely on online communication, you will be easy to forget.

Learn and earn is a summer on-the-job training period for secondary and upper secondary school students who have no previous experience from the trading sector. It is sponsored by the Finnish Commerce Federation and Service Union United PAM. Last summer, some 650 "Learn and Earn" youngsters familiarised themselves with the trading sector at K Group.
The "Learn and Earn" training is intended for students in basic education, in the tenth grade, in pre-vocational programmes and in upper secondary school (not yet graduated from upper secondary school) who have not previously been employed in the trading sector apart from possible previous on-the-job training periods. To apply for an on-the-job training position You can ask if they take "Learn and Earn" trainees at your local K-store as summer approaches. Stores are run by retailer entrepreneurs who decide if they can take Learn and earn trainees in their stores at a given time. When you go to a store, take with you a job application where you tell about yourself and provide your contact details. Also remember eye contact and a positive, proactive attitude.
Good luck with finding a summer job!
