In 2015, Kesko was selected to CDP's Climate A List for the first time. The globally established list consists of 113 selected leading companies considered to be operating in an exemplary manner in the mitigation of climate change.
Kesko was also listed in the Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership index for a fifth consecutive time and was awarded the full 100 points.
In 2012-2015, Kesko completed the Forests Program questionnaire on the key commodities contributing to deforestation: timber, palm oil, soy and cattle products.
The FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. As of 2009, Kesko has been included in the FTSE4Good indices. Kesko’s ESG rating in the FTSE4Good Index review of December 2015 was 4.2 (highest 5).
'The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations' list has been published at the World Economic Forum in Davos since 2005. Kesko has been on the list since it was launched. On the list announced in January 2016, Kesko placed 15th. Kesko was, at the same time, the most sustainable trading sector company (Food & Staples Retailing) in the world. The list is prepared by the Canadian Corporate Knights Inc.
Since 2011, Kesko is included in the STOXX Global ESG Leaders index family, which represents the leading global companies in terms of environmental, social and governance criteria. The index family consists of these three specialised categories and an overall index amalgamating their results.
Kesko is listed in the OMX GES Sustainability Index calculated by NASDAQ OMX in cooperation with GES Investment Services. It is a benchmark index which comprises the leading NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo Bors listed companies in terms of sustainability.

In September 2012, SPP Fonder listed the world's 100 most responsible companies for the first time and launched a new investment fund in which they are included. Kesko is one of the 100 companies on the list (latest update in 2014). SPP Fonder is part of the Nordic Storebrand life and pension insurance company.
Kesko has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe since 15/04/2016.
Several other assessments have been made of Kesko with the purpose of helping investors and financial service providers implement investment strategies in line with sustainable development.
The German oekom research assesses companies based on over 100 environmental and social responsibility criteria. The analyses of oekom research currently affect around €520 billion in assets under management. oekom research has assigned Kesko a prime grade of C+ (latest in October 2014). This means that Kesko ranks among the world's best companies within the same industry.
