K-trainee programme

The K-trainee programme is primarily targeted to polytechnic or university graduates, and more precisely, to new graduates or those with only a short work experience.

The programme prepares them to become retail experts and transfer to new responsibilities in the K-Group. An essential part of the one-year programme is training in a retail store, the purpose of which is to provide the participants with practical introduction to the work at the store.

The K-trainee programme also includes a comprehensive managerial training at the K-instituutti, the K-Group's own training centre. In addition, there is a set of advanced division and chain specific trainings.

Head start for a career in 365 days

The actual programme lasts one year, during which the job title is 'K-trainee'. The K-trainee period is followed by the duties of, for example, department manager in a K-citymarket hypermarket, or an Anttila department store, a project assignment in a Kesko chain unit, or some other responsible job in a store or support functions.

At a later stage, a K-trainee can move on to other jobs, depending on the skills he or she demonstrates and suitable jobs becoming available. The important things are genuine willingness and patience to develop towards top retailing expertise.
